📋 Instructions

Beholder 2 is an example of what would happen in certain places where everything is under the control of one person, but there's an illusion in place. This illusion is that organizations are set up to make people think the state is just there to help. You play as Evan, an employee of the ambiguous state where you serve at the Ministry, to process requests from the citizens. Things start on a low note following the death of your father, but as you spend more time at work and with those who knew him, you learn that there's something much more sinister going on.

About Beholder 2

You can find many games that aim to spy on people or process paperwork with dark undertones. This game is the sequel to a series about a strict state with a government that monitors everyone closely. As just one of the employees, the challenge is trying to do good enough work not to receive any punishment while also looking into the truth behind things. There's only so much time and opportunity to look into things, so you must find the right balance. People's futures may fall to you, so be diligent and curious when exposing the truth while staying hidden.

Beholder 2 is a 2.5D management game where you work for the Ministry of the State using the mouse or keyboard. Click an area and hold down the Left Mouse Button to move around. To interact with different elements, move the cursor over to them, click the Left Mouse Button, then click the available icons.

The goal is to do your job efficiently while investigating the Ministry and the truth behind your father's work and death. All your resources are shown in the top right corner of the screen. The menu gives you access to collected information and your inventory. If the Ministry finds out what you're up to, you may die along with the truth.

After the main menu leads you into the game, Evan will begin on his first day of work. While in the Ministry, Evan is expected to process requests for those who come to his window. He must listen to their requests, decide what form the person needs, which department to send them to, and pick an available office. If he processes them correctly, he'll receive pay, but if he makes a mistake, he'll receive nothing. If he continues to do good work and make his presence known, his Authority and his standing in the Ministry will grow.

Evan only has so much free time in the day to spend on work and additional activities before he must rest. His apartment allows him to read books, learn new skills, or watch TV to gather information. He can then use his time to work, investigate, or talk to specific people to learn more about the ministry and what happened to his father. You can either be a diligent worker for the State or attempt to expose the dark side of its functions and employees. Depending on the choices you make, Evan can be either punished or promoted. The game ends when Evan reaches the end of whatever path he decides to follow.

Tips and Tricks

Since this is a management game, the thing you're managing most is time. Time allows Evan to do everything, from earning money to gaining skills. The only way to restore time is to go to bed. Another thing to remember is who Evan talks to and what information he shares. Anyone could be listening, and Evan has a family to think about.
